Marmaris

Arrived marmaris late 6th, Con Brio was on the hard stand and every dusty. I have never seen so many boats in marina and it is completely self contained like a small town. Staff fling around on scooters, the travel lift goes non stop 12 hrs a day as yachties are all getting ready for the med season. Work going on at a feverish pace all around one can't get bored.  Lots of yachties have bikes to get around on as we are 11km out of marmaris or even just cos the marina is so large it can be quite a hike to the lu! Every little thing costs and the idea of time frame appears to be lost on the workers. We were meant to be launched from the hard to a pen at midday & it didnt happen til 8 pm and then no pen so spent the night in travel bay along with others so had dinner with one lone sailor from wales who is aretired nuclear something. i just love chatting to anyone as all are from so many different walks of life with the commonality of love of sailing. a lot of brits do this every year so a good source of anchorage info. it is like the grey nomad army but just in yachts instead of campers! Sadly I didn't get to cappadoccia as time didn't allow. Too much work to get the boat ready, namely new fridge (essential for me) &waste removal hoses which was essential cos Boats are not allowed to pump out in turkish coastal waters. No idea why my text keeps dropping of the posts so apologies when lacks clarity. My IT boat mates are all ex Microsoft so not iPad savvy. Even tho Con Brio is a british boat I have added the Aussie flag and while ther are flags of every nation on boats I have yet to see another Australian one. Other than a small old corner, i am not keen on marmaris and glad we are way out of town but love finding the local eating spots. Plans are fluid and weather dependent which is currently unsettled but who cares. There is much Turkish coast to explore and gk islands only a few km away. Finally sailed away on 11th and now Bodrum with wifi.
